One star of the hit Netflix series Squid Game may have let slip that a major character is going to die in season three.

It’s fair to say that when Squid Game arrived on Netflix in 2021, it became an overnight sensation. Whether it was on social media or chatter amongst friends and family, it was difficult not to hear or see anyone gossiping about this new South Korean show that had so successfully translated with audiences across the world.

Check out the Squid Game trailer below!

“Hundreds of cash-strapped players accept a strange invitation to compete in children's games. Inside, a tempting prize awaits with deadly high stakes: a survival game that has a whopping 45.6 billion-won prize at stake,” reads the synopsis of the Netflix series.

Recently, season two of Squid Game concluded but just this week, we got our first season three tease and fans are hyped, to say the least. Oh, and the Squid Game season three release date has also dropped.

I am about to venture into potential spoilers for Squid Game season three, so consider this to be your final spoiler warning. Now that’s out of the way, let’s proceed.

As reported by Looper, Kang Ae-Shim (who plays Jang Geum-ja aka player 149) may have accidentally revealed her fate in season three.

When asked about the pressures of filming two seasons back-to-back, Kang Ae-Shim said that some of the cast filmed for six months and for others, it was a year. She then is said to have frantically whispered something to a co-star of the show covering her mouth.

It’s not yet fully clear whether Kang Ae-Shim accidentally revealed that she was filming fewer scenes than her co-stars which may indicate that her character is killed before others. Only time will tell.

Season three of Squid Game will premiere on Netflix on 27 June 2025.
