A petition to keep Rick And Morty actor, Justin Roiland, on the show after abuse allegations has gained no traction.

Roiland, who voices several characters on the show, like Rick, Morty and many side characters, was axed by Adult Swim over abuse allegations.

Check out the trailer for the seventh season of Rick And Morty below

As reported by NBC News, charges involved domestic violence during an incident in 2020. Roiland appeared in court on Thursday 12 January, 2023, for a pre-trial hearing.

Recently, all charges against Roiland were dropped, leading many to assume he’d be continuing his work on Rick And Morty, as well as other projects he was involved in like Solar Opposites. Many were disappointed to learn he’d still be getting replaced, with the new voice actor being teased during the trailer for the upcoming seventh season of Rick And Morty.

It’s safe to say fans haven’t taken the news well, many believing the show should be cancelled if Roiland isn’t part of the cast since he provided the voice work for the two main characters.

A petition titled “Keep Justin Roiland’s Association with Rick and Morty!!” was launched on Change.org in January, when the allegations were made public, but checking back in on it months later has revealed it’s gone absolutely nowhere.

At the time of writing, the petition has a measly 270 signatures, with a goal of 500 that was never reached.

That’s not to say there aren’t plenty of people defending Roiland and his position in the industry. Many have publicly disagreed with the decision to keep him axed, especially after the charges were dropped. The comments on the petition said:

“They destroy someone and what they do is worse than what he is accused of … disgusting”

“I’m tired of people being fired because they were accused of something. Anyone can be falsely accused and it’s ridiculous to ruin someone’s livelihood over unproven allegations.”

Regardless of his removal, the show goes on, with Rick And Morty returning to our screens on the 21st of August.
