The first teaser trailer for season seven of Rick And Morty has finally been released - and it’s the first season not to involve series creator Justin Roiland.

Earlier this year, Adult Swim confirmed that they’d parted ways with Roiland after domestic violence charges made against him in 2020 were brought to light. Roiland was charged with one felony count of domestic battery with corporal injury, and one felony count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraid, and/or deceit. Roiland pleaded not guilty and the charges were eventually dropped in March of this year, due to “insufficient evidence to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt”. Adult Swim are sticking by their decision to part ways with Roiland though, teasing a “great” recasting for Rick And Morty’s two titular characters.

Take a look at the brand new Rick And Morty trailer below.

Adult Swim are still keeping a lid on who’s replacing Roiland. The new trailer focuses solely on Rick Sanchez. The issue is, we don’t hear Rick talk very much at all. It’s only in the final few seconds that the soundtrack ends and we finally hear him speak to Morty. Over on Twitter, one fan wrote, “Wow, voices sound good,” while another added, “I’m impressed.” There are plenty threatening to boycott the Roiland-less show too though.

It was revealed at San Diego Comic Con that producers haven’t actually pinned down an actor to permanently replace Roiland just yet, mainly due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. What we can glean from this trailer is that it looks as if season seven will focus on the feud between Rick C-137 and Rick Prime.

We don’t have a premiere date for season seven but we do know that it’s scheduled to release in fall/autumn which is not very far away at all now. I’d expect a release date will be confirmed in the next couple of weeks.
