Regardless of how you feel about events in the stars' lives outside of the films, it's difficult to deny that Pirates of the Caribbean remains one of Disney's most bankable intellectual properties, and any new release is going to draw major interest from fans of all ages.
It has been eight whole years since the last release in the franchise and talk of its future was up in the air for a long while. Now, we know that a reboot on the way, and producer Jerry Bruckheimer has actively been in discussions with Depp to reprise the role he has occupied in all five Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
His return is dependant on whether he likes the script, but he's not the only actor who is willing to return if asked.
In a conversation with ComicBook, actor Sam Claflin shared his willingness to return as Philip Swift, one of the main characters in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (who you may remember fell in love with a mermaid).

“Let’s beg the producers, because I would love to revisit that world again," Claflin said, "It was my first ever film. I’d done a bit of TV before, but as a film experience, I was so nervous. I was like a deer in headlights. I didn’t know what was happening... What a stage to step onto when you don’t really know what’s going on. And so I took myself and the job so seriously and it deserved it in many ways. And Philip is that kind of character.”
He then went on to say how much he would like another go round, if only to loosen up and enjoy it more, "But equally I look back at that experience. God, I wish I just had more fun. Like, I just I just wish I allowed myself to just sort of enjoy it and, and relish every single moment. So I would love the opportunity to kind of get back on the pirate ship. I mean that would be a dream come true for me. But unfortunately it’s not in my hands. So, Jerry Bruckheimer, if you’re watching this, make it happen.”
Claflin was a popular addition to the cast at the time and his return would likely prove popular with fans. Whether he'll get to do so remains to be seen, but we've got our fingers crossed that we'll hear more soon.
