Mass Effect fans, we just got the teaser we've been waiting for

Will we learn more soon?

Mass Effect fans are finally getting some good news, with a new teaser being music to the ears.

It’s been quite a while since we had a new Mass Effect thing to look forward to. Sure, we got the Mass Effect Legendary Edition remaster of the first three games back in 2021, but there hasn’t been a brand new adventure since 2017’s Mass Effect: Andromeda.

We’ve got Mass Effect 5 to look forward to at least, but it’s likely still a few years away. In the meantime, however, another Mass Effect production has just received a promising update.

After finding success with its Fallout television adaptation on Amazon Prime Video, it appears that the same production team will be moving over to work on the Mass Effect TV series.

We’ve got confirmation that Fast and Furious 9 screenwriter Daniel Casey is on board too, as well as Star Trek Beyond writer Doug Jung joining as showrunner.

When it was initially revealed last year, Casey posted on Instagram, “l'm working on a Mass Effect show for Amazon. We’re greenlit to start our writer's room at the top of 2025.”

“Doing this right is and has been top priority for nearly two years now (though we paused for the strike last year). We have a great pilot script and series outline, the team that Amazon has in place.”

The writers’ room has been working on scripts for roughly a year, and it’s possible that filming could be scheduled to begin soon.

As for when the series will premiere, a 2026 release is looking likely considering Casey has said they’ve already been working on it for two years.

That would put it in the off-season period between Fallout seasons, giving gamers a reason to come back to Prime Video while they wait.

Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long until we know a bit more about Amazon’s Mass Effect project. We don’t know if it will cover the original trilogy, or be a brand new story set in the same universe.

Considering how expansive the world of Mass Effect is, I reckon it’ll go the Fallout route of having a new story in a familiar setting.
