Spider-Man: Brand New Day Just Confirmed MCU Aunt May's Age, Viewers Staggered

Aunt May must have found the fountain of youth

Aunt May has undoubtedly gone through some revelatory look changes over the years, from the Sam Raimi adaptations for Sony, all the way up to Tom Holland's turns as our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.

In the original Spider-Man trilogy, Aunt May was played by Rosemary Ann Harris, who was 74 at the time of the film's release. Her overall appearance and approximate age gelled fairly well with what fans were expecting from the character, but there was a pretty big change by the time the MCU version rolled around.

Played by Marisa Tomei, Aunt May is considerably more youthful, with attention quickly turning to how old she was supposed to be in the films. Now, set photos from the set of upcoming release Brand New Day has confirmed exactly how old she is, and it might come as a shock to some.

As reported by The Direct, Tom Holland's Spidey visits the grave of his now deceased aunt, with the age on her grave showing that she was 60 at the time of her death. This is the exact same age as Tomei is now in real life, with fans quick to react online.

""1964?? She was playing 60?? I thought she was more like 40," one user said over on Twitter/X. " "At first I'm like, she's not sixty, Now after learning the actress’s age, I am shocked," another added.

This revelation also confirms that the second half of No Way Home took place in 2024, as the exact place of that film on the MCU timeline has previously been tough to pin down exactly.

Fans have a long while to go before the mysteries of Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be revealed, with a full release scheduled for the 31st July 2026. That's assuming Tom Holland doesn't leak everything important before it does arrive.
