Marvel fans are baffled that MCU Phase Five has suddenly ended without them realising.
Phase Six of the MCU promises to be an exciting time for fans of the Marvel movies. Especially with the MCU struggling to hit the heights of Avengers: Endgame, which was part of an epic Phase Three that ended in 2019.
Thunderbolts* signalled the end of Phase Five when it was released on 2 May 2025 in cinemas, and now with The Fantastic Four: First Steps arriving later this month, it begins the highly anticipated Phase Six.
“Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, Marvel Studios’ 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' introduces Marvel’s First Family—Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic), Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), Johnny Storm (Human Torch) and Ben Grimm (The Thing) as they face their most daunting challenge yet,” reads the synopsis of the upcoming movie.

The sixth phase of the MCU will also see Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars all arrive on the big screen, so it’s fair to say that fans are hyped, to put it mildly.
However, perhaps due to the MCU being a little bit ‘meh’ lately, understandably, some fans didn't even realise that Phase Five has ended and now we’re in Phase Six.
“Phase Five of the MCU has officially ended,” tweeted DiscussingFilm. “‘THE FANTASTIC FOUR’ is the start of Phase Six.”
“When did it even begin?” said te_Neil_et. “Remember when ending a phase meant something?”

“Not a single memorable thing happened in Phase Five,” claimed Kallen32218940.
“What actually happened in the last two phases?” asked hard_tingz.
“Good, Phase Five had the most forgettable movies,” replied chance9874.
Let’s just hope that Phase Six is as good as it promises to be and not a forgettable experience, because the MCU deserves better.
