MCU fans divided over Loki's fate in Avengers: Doomsday

Is Loki doomed?

Marvel fans are divided over what could happen to MCU Loki in Avengers: Doomsday, and to be honest, I hate it.

Many MCU fans probably never expected they’d love Tom Hiddleston’s portrayal of the “God of Mischief” Loki as much as they do now when we were first introduced to this version in Thor (2011). Yet, over the years, while still retaining some of his villainous ways, fans were endlessly charmed by this beloved anti-hero.

Check out the Loki season two trailer below!

Without giving too much away regarding Loki’s fate in the concluding episode of the second season of the Disney Plus series, Loki, I will say that he now wields enormous power and responsibility.

That being said, please be mindful of some spoilers below.

Fans were left on an emotional cliffhanger wondering whether we’d see Tom Hiddleston’s Loki ever again but if a fan theory proves to be true, we could see the character return and not everyone will like it.

“Doctor Doom will steal Loki's power in Avengers: Doomsday” claimed Redditor homodemiks.

“I thought for the longest time it was the Scarlet Witch but I think the God of Stories, Loki could be the origin of Doom's god-like power,” they continued. “This role was filled by the Beyonders in the comic, but I think introducing them and Doctor Doom would be convoluted.”

This concept is similar to the events of the 2004 video game, Marvel Ultimate Alliance. However, instead of taking Loki’s powers, Doctor Doom drained the powers of Odin, practically turning Doctor Doom into a God-like villain.

“Not gonna lie, I would absolutely hate this,” replied captainhooksjournal.

“If they are using the storytelling framework of the Kang Dynasty screenplay and swapping Doom for Kang Doom, it will tap into some kind of cosmic/magic power and transform into Beyonder Doom for Avengers: Secret Wars,” explained GarySparkle.

“I don’t think this will happen because there still needs to be a Loki and Thor reunion,” said Youngsimba_92. “I think Doom is going to start causing incursions and will discover the multiverse through Reid Richards and the Fantastic Four when they come back to the sacred timeline and it will cause mayhem.”

At the time of writing, Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to be released on 1 May 2026 and is part of Phase 6 of the MCU.
