The MCU is currently looking for X-Men actors, and it’s allegedly landed on an inspired but unlikely choice for Magneto.
Like most forms of media Marvel would be nothing without its villains, with Magneto in particular being one of the most compelling to ever appear on a comic page.
He was also the best part of the X-Men ‘97 TV series, which is getting a second season soon enough
While Ian McKellen will once again play the mutant leader in Avengers: Doomsday and presumably Avengers: Secret Wars there’ll soon come a time where the MCU welcomes its own version of the X-Men into its expanding universe.

Plenty of fancasts have been thrown around for characters like Cyclops, Kitty Pryde, Professor X etc, but leakers claim that Marvel are eyeing up Daniel Day-Lewis for Magneto.
As exciting as this news is there’s little to no chance of it actually happening, as Day-Lewis retired as an actor some time ago and it seems unlikely he’d come out of that retirement regardless of how much money Marvel is offering.
Fans feels the same way, with some saying there’s “No f*** chance lmao” that it’s going to happen.
“This is not happening” stated another, with one more adding “dude is retired from acting so I doubt this.”

If not Daniel Day-Lewis though it does make you wonder who actually will play Magento on the big-screen next.
Ian McKellen continues to do a fine job but it seems likely that Avengers: Doomsday/Secret Wars will be his last performance as the character, and it doesn’t seem likely that they’d bring Michael Fassbender back since it’d make more sense to use a new actor instead.
That said it matters not what face is placed under the helmet, just that the character is understood and his story is told well.
