MCU fans split on ‘crazy’ Avengers lineup with just one OG member

With the main lineup for the Avengers: Doomsday cast now revealed, Marvel fans are split on one detail.

Marvel Studios revealed the full cast for Avengers: Doomsday last week. It’s a stacked list of cast members that includes the likes of Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, and Sebastian Stan.

With such a packed list of actors appearing in the project, what’s even wilder is that there will almost certainly be a bunch of cast members that have not been announced yet. Marvel loves a good surprise cameo.

Daredevil: Born Again is currently airing on Disney Plus.

Now, Marvel Cinematic Universe fans are calling it “crazy” that the new Avengers lineup only has one member of the original Avengers team present.

“Kind of crazy that Thor is the only remaining member of the original MCU Avengers showing up,” user hunter1547 posted on the Marvel Studios Reddit page.

The reply was made in response to a fan mockup of the new Avengers team, which only features Thor from the original MCU Avengers team.

“For now, Bruce, and Hawkeye are a few of the noticeable omissions from this announcement,” wrote another comment. This makes sense, as the other founding Avengers members are either dead or retired.

“I’m honestly more surprised that Dr Strange is absent,” wrote another comment. Of course, it’s possible he could appear as a cameo or is being saved for Avengers: Secret Wars.

There are also solo films releasing around and between the two Avengers films to consider too. Doctor Strange is supposedly getting a third film, according to Benedict Cumberbatch at least.

So we could definitely see an explanation for his absence in Doomsday here.

We also have Spider-Man: Brand New Day to consider too, which is set to release in cinemas on 31 July, 2026, a few months after Doomsday.

It’ll probably become clearer why some characters have been omitted from the Avengers: Doomsday cast once we see a trailer.

With heroes like Hulk, Hawkeye, and Spider-Man missing, their involvement may be more crucial for Secret Wars.

Avengers: Doomsday is due to release in cinemas on 1 May, 2026, with its sequel Secret Wars releasing on 7 May, 2027.
