Marvel fans have good reason to get hyped following Thor’s new look ahead of Avengers: Doomsday.

When I say “new look”, if anything, it’s moreso a returning look perhaps inspired by 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, and it could signal the return of Chris Hemsworth’s Thor as we once knew him to be.

Thor, without question, whether it’s comics, TV animations or movies on the big screen, is one of the most popular Marvel characters of all time. What's more, he became even more popular following his introduction to the MCU with Thor in 2011.

Check out the Thor: Ragnarok trailer below!

I think it’s fair to say that 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder wasn't the highest point for the MCU character. I’m all for some comedy, but Thor: Love and Thunder perhaps leaned into humour a bit too much, so much so that Chris Hemsworth himself said it was cringe.

Hopefully, that version of Thor is over, and while we welcome some silliness, I’m all for the badass God of Thunder being well and truly back in the MCU.

With that in mind, as spotted by Comicbook.com, in preparation for filming for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, which has now begun, Chris Hemsworth has been spotted sporting a new hair style similar to the one featured in Thor: Ragnarok.

A photo was shared (thanks HollywoodHandle) by MCU stunt performer Bobby Holland Hanton, with Chris Hemsworth with short hair, looking badass, clinching a fist and ready to go on set.

In an Instagram post, Chris Hemsworth also shared a video of him topless (obviously) punching the crap out of a punch bag looking extra buff and shredded.

The most recent movie in the MCU is Thunderbolts*, out now in cinemas, which will be followed by The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which kickstarts Phase Six on 25 July 2025.

At the time of writing, Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to be released on 1 May 2026.
