We didn’t expect the cast of Avengers: DOOMSDAY to be revealed without any build-up, and we certainly weren’t expecting to watch hours of chairs being placed in a room, to find out who is starring in the film.

The first of a very long list of names announced by Marvel yesterday was Chris Hemsworth, returning to the MCU to play Thor.

Thor will be returning for Avengers: DOOMSDAY

The long-running Avengers member will be back to take on Doctor Doom with a huge ensemble of stars, and fans were thrilled to see him return.

“Bring it on,” said one fan, with an accompanying GIF of Thor sparkling with lightning.

“HELL YEA!!! I am so happy that he is coming back. I was really worried he might not,” exclaimed another fan.

Thor has been a mainstay in the Marvel family for many years, and it would feel odd to move forward without him.

Which version of Thor we get is still yet to be seen; will we get the overly comedic Thor? Or the more balanced version who showed a depth of emotion?

Considering Tom Hiddleston is back as Loki, too, we’d hope for a brotherly reunion bursting with emotion.

This hasn’t escaped the attention of some, with one fan saying, “Both are on board. So give us the Thor & Loki reunion.”

“So... maybe we will finally know why Thor was crying!” noted a Twitter user, referring to the now infamous scene in Deadpool & Wolverine.

So many people are asking this, and perhaps we will see a moment of Deadpool lying in Thor’s arms.

There are exclamations, more GIFs of Thor screaming “YESSSSS” from that moment in Thor: Ragnarök, and plenty of happy swearing from Marvel fans, who have been waiting for this moment.

One fan simply says, “That’s right, show Thor some respect,” and let’s hope the Russo brothers do just that as filming starts in London in the coming weeks.
