MCU fans agree 616's 'anchor being' isn't who you expected

Who's holding 616 together?

MCU fans think they’ve found Earth 616's true ‘anchor being,’ and it’s the last person you might expect.

Phase four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has introduced a lot of wibbly wobbly timey-wimey stuff to the film franchise.

Check out one of the next steps in the MCU, Captain America: Brave New World, below.

In Deadpool & Wolverine, the merc-with-a-mouth’s third adventure introduced the idea of ‘anchor beings’ to the MCU.

These are individuals who essentially hold together their universe simply by existing, which was Logan in the Marvel Fox universe apparently hence why Deadpool had to find a new Wolverine to help save it.

Following that revelation, the question remains on who could be Earth 616’s anchor being, and while it could be a character we know very well or haven’t met yet, fans have certainly got ideas.

In a Reddit thread talking about all the current MCU phases we’ve seen so far, it was pointed out that Happy Hogan is the only character to appear in every phase.

Happy started out as Tony Stark’s chauffeur in phase one, moving to the head of security at Stark Industries in phase three, presumably having some sort of role in The Avengers too by phase four.

One fan came to the conclusion that “as much as everyone wouldn't admit, Happy Hogan is 616's anchor being,” and it honestly wouldn’t be too surprising if it turned out to be true.

Other theories on who the anchor being could be include Doctor Strange, after all he was the first to truly open up the multiverse for the MCU, Iron Man following his death in Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man or even Thor.

Whether an actual reveal is on the cards for a future Marvel film is unknown, though it’d make sense to explore the concept further and its ramifications on 616 in a future Avengers film, maybe Avengers: Doomsday?
