Well, blow us down with a feather. It turns out Deadpool was right.

Ever since Hugh Jackman decided to reprise the role of Wolverine, we’ve been curious about who will replace the actor when the time comes.

Although Deadpool & Wolverine marked the mutant's MCU debut, given the fact that Jackman had retired from acting, we anticipated this would be his last hurrah.

Known for his theatrical work, we also suspected that Jackman would take to the stage, singing his heart out in every musical that took his fancy.

Let's join Marvel in taking a look ahead at what's to come

But no, Deadpool was bang on the money when he joked Jackman would be playing Wolverine until he’s 90.

Although an obvious exaggeration – we hope – Jackman does seem to be sticking around.

Industry insider, Daniel Richtman, is back again with more Marvel related gossip.

Among them is the claim that Jackman will return in a Deadpool & Wolverine sequel, and that he’ll stick around as Wolverine even after Secret Wars.

To those of you who’ve been keeping a close eye on all the speculation regarding the next MCU’s Wolverine, Jackman continuing his role isn’t a new rumour.

Since he appeared in Deadpool & Wolverine, whispers have been heard that say Jackman is back for the long haul.

That said, we still weren’t anticipating the actor remaining part of the MCU for as long as Richtman has suggested.

As much as I hate repeating myself, it has to be explained in plain old black and white each time: this isn’t confirmed.

Even though other sources besides Richtman have also made similar claims, until we see an official announcement from Marvel, it’s wise to be cautious.

Furthermore, even if Jackman isn’t going to be the “new MCU Wolverine”, he’s definitely not about to give up his adamantium claws just yet.

The MCU is preparing for an X-Men takeover, and with it comes the possibility of returning faces.

Jackman’s is pretty much guaranteed to be one of them, but who else will make a comeback is less certain.

Regardless, we’re tentatively excited to see where the MCU takes us next.
