MCU fans realise only one OG Avenger is yet to be replaced

But there's still time

Marvel fans are only just realising that one of the original Avengers in the MCU has yet to be replaced.

Looking at the MCU, the universe has expanded so drastically now compared to 15 years ago that the number of characters still appearing in the films has skyrocketed.

And when you think back to the original Avengers lineup, it becomes increasingly clear that most of these characters have since retired or been replaced by new, younger heroes to fill their shoes.

MCU fans are realising that now there’s only one character left from that original lineup that hasn’t had a younger replacement show up at some point.

After all, Ironheart has taken over Iron Man’s role, while Sam Wilson has taken up the Captain America mantle.

Then you’ve got She-Hulk potentially being the MCU’s new Hulk, while Yelena Belova and Kate Bishop take over the Black Widow and Hawkeye roles in the team. That only leaves Thor.

With the rumours surrounding Chris Hemsworth potentially leaving the MCU after Avengers: Secret Wars, it leaves the door open for another character to fill Thor’s boots as the MCU’s go-to Asgardian hero.

That leaves the question of who could be the new Thor in the MCU. While the reception to Thor: Love and Thunder was pretty lukewarm, the film clearly set up a few characters who could take up the mantle.

Firstly, there’s Natalie Portman’s Mighty Thor, who might have been a perfect contender for taking over the role from Hemsworth.

However, the end of the movie revealed that the character died and entered Valhalla, so it’s likely she won’t be returning.

However, Love and Thunder also set up Love, the adoptive daughter of Thor and played by Hemsworth’s real life daughter, India.

She was last seen at the end of Thor: Love and Thunder being trained by Thor.

Given that she’s one of the MCU’s most powerful characters now, it’s possible that we could see her re-appear again at some point and possibly even take over the Thor role.
