News of the Russo brothers directing the post-credits scene for The Fantastic Four: First Steps has MCU fans excited about a possible Avengers: DOOMSDAY tease.
The post-credit scene has become a staple in popular culture, and it was spearheaded by Marvel, who teased Thanos at the end of The Avengers.
Since the announcement of Robert Downey Jr. returning to the MCU as Doctor Doom, we’ve been eagerly waiting for the first appearance or tease, and it may very well be just days away.
It has been rumoured that we’ll see two post-credit scenes at the end of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, with one being for laughs, and the other setting up the next Avengers film.

Recent news confirmed that the Russo brothers directed the post-credit scene, as opposed to Matt Shakman, who led the film.
This echoes the ending scene of Thunderbolts* which was also directed by the brothers, hinting at The Fantastic Four entering Earth-616’s atmosphere.
We won’t know exactly what that scene shows until the worldwide release of Marvel’s next film, but we’d be surprised if we don’t see Doctor Doom make his first appearance.
Shakman told ComicBook that the Russo brothers led the direction from the set of Avengers: DOOMSDAY, which is where Robert Downey Jr. is currently shooting his scenes.

The director said of the Russos, “They’re amazing at what they do and they’re lovely, generous people. They wanted to visit our sets and watch scenes as they were coming together, and get to know these characters.”
It feels genuinely exciting to be a Marvel fan, with things heating up towards another big event film, and the expected reset of the MCU timeline.
The Fantastic Four has a very close relationship with Doctor Doom, so it’s expected that he will appear to set up the merging of the multiverse sooner rather than later.
