MCU fans divided over Avengers: Doomsday's lead hero

With the Avengers saga expected to continue with Avengers: Doomsday in 2026, rumours have begun circulating as to which superhero will take on the lead role.

It has been a quiet few years for Marvel’s Avengers saga after Avengers: Endgame dominated the cinema back in 2019.

However, despite many of our favourite superheroes meeting their demise, the future is still looking bright thanks to the power of the Multiverse and excitement has started to build once again.

Now with Avengers: Doomsday expected to release in 2026 with Avengers: Secret Wars following suit in 2027, we can look forward to seeing the return of some familiar faces, even if they now go by a whole new name entirely.

With some actors and characters already confirmed to be making a return, it still remains to be seen who will take on the lead role.

However, according to “Twitter influencer and writer” DanielRPK, it is Tom Holland who will be taking the reins.

Writing on his Patreon page earlier this week, Daniel claims that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will reportedly have a “large role” in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

So large in fact that it will eclipse his hours in Infinity War and Endgame.

Of course, there is no way of knowing if this information is correct but it wouldn’t be the most far-fetched rumour we have heard so far.

Be that as it may, fans are feeling divided over this rumour and took to r/MarvelStudios_Rumours to share their thoughts.

“Has it even been written yet?” The most popular comment asked.

“Also feels like one of the “Spider-Man 4 will be in NYC” leaks. Tom’s popularity makes him likely to be a main lead. This feels like a guess more than an actual scoop.”

Another user believes the lead will be down to the most popular (or most earning character).

They said: “No, the mains will be Deadpool, Wolverine and Spider-Man, because they brought in the most money in the entire saga.”

With Avengers: Doomsday just two years away, we can expect to hear more information over the next couple of years.
