Avengers: Doomsday Cast Has Got Viewers Worried

Marvel fans are worried about the highly anticipated MCU movie, Avengers: Doomsday.

It’s fair to say that there is a lot of hype surrounding Phase Six of the MCU, especially following the recent success of The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Sure, The Fantastic Four: First Steps isn't going to be considered as the best Marvel movie of all time, but it was a solid start for MCU Phase Six and has perhaps rekindled a spark that some fans may have lost in recent years.

The next MCU movie to arrive is Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which doesn't arrive until 31 July 2026. That’s assuming it doesn't get delayed.

After that, we have Avengers: Doomsday slated for 18 December 2026 with Avengers: Secret Wars arriving on 17 December 2027. Of course, new MCU movies may still be announced.

However, as excited as fans are for the upcoming MCU movies, some are concerned, particularly with Avengers: Doomsday. Some fans are hoping that the movie isn't going to be too bloated with its number of characters.

“I counted 64 characters in Avengers: Endgame on the IMDB cast list with speaking parts or cameos. Endgame was three hours and one minute with the credits,” wrote Redditor ZealousidealSite7720.

“There’s a wide assumption that Avengers: Doomsday is overstuffed at reportedly two hours and 30 minutes, and only 28 characters announced and four additional characters reportedly appearing, so far,” they continued.

“Endgame was one of the most beloved movies, and everyone was worried about that cast, too. So let’s say we get another 25 to 30 characters. That’s 53 to 58 [Avengers: Doomsday] characters in a reported two-and-a-half-hour movie, with no details on how large or small some of the appearances are.

“Do you guys think the film is gonna be overstuffed? I’m optimistic that it’s going to be great.”

Fellow members of the Reddit thread shared view opinions on the points made by ZealousidealSite7720.

“This number is 100% made up. At best, that might be an approximate target that they're hoping for, but they haven't even finished filming, let alone the ten thousand other things that need to come before a final runtime,” replied N8CCRG.

“Avengers: Doomsday will match Avengers: Infinity War (less than 40 total characters), not Avengers: Endgame,” suggested Single-Pianist-2211.

It’s worth keeping in mind that this is mere fan speculation, so it should be taken with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise. That being said, ZealousidealSite7720 does raise some valid concerns.

I love the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies, but Spider-Man 3 fell flat on its face, in my opinion. One of the reasons it perhaps didnt translate with me is due to it trying to focus on too many characters, rather than those pivotal to the story, namely, Peter Parker, Harry Osborn and Eddie Brock.

Hopefully, Avengers: Doomsday won't fall into the same trap.
