One upcoming release is set to shed more light on the fate of iconic Star Wars character Jar Jar Binks following the events of the prequel saga.
The Star Wars universe continues to expand with news of a brand-new canon comic which will focus on none other than Jar Jar Binks himself.
Star Wars: Jar Jar Binks is set to be a one-shot comic co-written by Bink’s actor Ahmed Best alongside Marc Guggenheim who is no stranger to the Star Wars universe.
Both the announcement and cover art has been revealed for the upcoming comic book and in an interesting twist, one variant cover depicts the titular character fighting alongside The Mandalorian’s Kelleran Beq.

The synopsis for Star Wars: Jar Jar Binks reads as follows: "Jar Jar faces the consequences of giving emergency powers to Chancellor Palpatine. What pivotal role does Jar Jar play in the formation of the Rebel Alliance? Guest starring fan favorite Jedi Knight Kelleran Beq!"
As for Jar Jar Binks himself, he became an iconic Star Wars character way back in 1999’s Star Wars: Episode 1: The Phantom Menace but played more of a background role in the following movies in the trilogy: Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.
So much so that the following sequel trilogy did not feature the character at all and many fans were left wondering about his fate.
Luckily, in the canon spin-off novel Aftermath: Empire's End, it was revealed that Jar Jar had taken on the role of a street performer during the events of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.

However, it seems as though the Gungan was not having a good time as adults ridicule his performances and only children enjoy his shows.
It seems as though Star Wars: Jar Jar Binks will serve to bring a voice to Jar Jar outside of just being a comic relief character as well as showing how he dealt with the various events that took place throughout Star Wars history.
More specifically, it shows what he was up to during the immediate aftermath of Emperor Palpatine’s takeover.
The one-shot comic is set to be released by Marvel Comics in February 2026 and with Jar Jar not being universally liked by Star Wars fans, this release may just change everybody’s perspective and add more depth to the otherwise surface-level character.

Here’s hoping.
