With the Harry Potter TV show still in early production, casting rumours for the upcoming Wizarding World reboot are abound.

There’s no denying the original Harry Potter film saga boasted an incredibly prolific cast.

Featuring high-profile cinema icons like Gary Oldman, Richard Harris, and Dame Maggie Smith, the cast played a huge role in keeping Harry Potter in the spotlight while they were being made.

And with the franchise also kicking off the careers of its younger cast members like Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, all eyes are on the upcoming HBO show for new cast reveals.

The upcoming HBO show will see a revival of the original Harry Potter books with a new cast.

Now, a new rumour suggests an actor from the original films could appear in the show.

Alfred Enoch, who played Hogwarts student Dean Thomas in seven of the eight films, discussed possibly returning to the franchise in a new interview with ScreenRant.

When asked about his interest in returning for the TV show, the 36 year-old actor expressed the possibility of coming back as a teacher rather than a student.

Talking to ScreenRant, Enoch said: “I wish I could say I learned enough to be a mentor to anyone, but I think probably they'd have to find someone else for that... I'd love that. That's good. That's only a one-season job, isn't it?”

Since starring in the Harry Potter films, Enoch had a main role in the ABC show How to Get Away with Murder, as well as films like The Critic and This Is Christmas.

He’s also done a lot of theatre work, appearing on stage in productions of Romeo and Juliet and King Lear.

Enoch isn’t the first former Harry Potter star to express interest in appearing in the HBO show. Last year, Neville Longbottom actor Matthew Lewis said he’d like to appear as Professor Remus Lupin.

Time will tell whether or not Enoch or Lewis are cast in the upcoming HBO show.

There’s no concrete date currently attached to when the show will air, but it’s expected to premiere sometime in 2026.
