Fallout Finally Reveals Truth About Who Dropped Those First Bombs

The House always wins

Prime Video's Fallout was an absolute revelation in its first season, breaking free from the shackles of terrible video game adaptations to deliver a show that was as faithful to the original games as it was exciting and progressive in the way it moved the story forward.

One of the biggest questions in the Fallout games relates to who exactly brought about the unending apocalypse we are forced to explore in the D.C. Wasteland, the Mojave and the USA at large.

We do know that the war was fought between the United States and China, with Fallout 3 DLC Operation: Anchorage giving us a look at one of the key battles in that war. The big question, though, is who dropped the bombs first, and the second season of Fallout on Prime Video could be about to reveal all.

Very excitingly, the series is set to heavily feature New Vegas in both its pre and post-war forms (presumably when it was still known as Las Vegas). As such, Mr House was always going to be a big player, but some of the things he says during the trailer may suggest that he had the big role in dropping the bombs first.

House meets Walton Goggins' Cooper Howard (who at the time was advertising for Vault-Tec), and tells him that "he knows there is a war coming," but "the bombs are only just the beginning".

The nefarious way the character is presented in the trailer does suggest that he could be the key figure in getting this whole war started and bringing about the end of the world.

The games have delivered a lot of lore via terminals and documents over the years, but they have never been explicit in their answer to the bombs question, even if they have hinted at China several times.

If the Fallout show is the one to finally confirm either way, it would be a huge revelation for the games moving forward.
