The revival of the DCEU as the DCU under the guidance of James Gunn has started quite well. The recent release of Superman was the first major movie after the soft reboot, and with solid feedback from audiences and impressive revenue figures (considering the year superhero movies are having more generally), it has all started quite well.
So naturally the conversation has turned to arguably DC's most important and notorious superhero - Batman. Robert Pattinson's The Batman is going to continue in earnest, with a sequel already slated for October 2027, but that exists somewhat separately to the larger cinematic universe that Gunn is trying to create.
The first order of the day is who is going to play the franchise Batman, with several names being bandied about between members of the community.
As shared on Twitter/X, user Culture Crave confirmed a conversation between James Gunn and Escorpion Dorado in which the former was asked if Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt could take over the role, particularly with the two having worked together on that franchise.

For those hoping the answer would be yes (not us), it was unfortunately an unequivocal no from the director, though he did say he would be open to Pratt appearing as another character if the role was a fit.
Joining us in our joy at that decision were many of the comments, including one who simply said, "Good decision lmao. He’d make a horrible Batman."
A lot of comments thought they'd found the perfect role, with many agreeing there is only one DC character who would suit him perfectly. "Chris Pratt as Batman never made sense anyway, but him as Booster Gold? That’d actually slap," one said.
Whether Pratt ends up playing Gold or being left out of the DCU entirely, I think we can all be happy that he's not slated to play the Dark Knight.
