DCU Batman tease is exactly what we wanted to hear

The future is looking bright

In a recent interview with The Penguin showrunner Lauren LeFranc, she reveals that the future is looking bright for DC as other The Batman spin-offs are in the early stages of development.

Released back in 2022 and starring Robert Pattinson as our brand-new caped crusader, The Batman introduced us to a brand-new universe full of crime, heroes, and villains.

Although The Batman II has been hit with multiple delays and is now not expected to begin filming until at least 2026, its universe is still alive and kicking and that is mainly thanks to the television show The Penguin.

Airing back in 2024 and consisting of eight episodes, The Penguin took the world by storm as millions flocked to see Colin Farrell become unrecognisable as the Gotham gangster Oz Cobb.

Now with the show expected to return for a second season, its showrunner Lauren LeFranc has revealed that The Penguin may not be the only DC-related show in the works.

In an interview with Deadline, LeFranc was asked about other potential spinoff series related to The Batman in which she replied, “we’re in the early stages”.

Of course, this does not keep us any insight into who the shows may be based off of but it does indeed reveal that they do exist in some capacity.

Thanks to the success of both The Batman and The Penguin, this potential for more has left fans feeling excited.

Over on r/DCU_, user TheBrickHog said the following: “Loved The Penguin so this is exciting but at the same time let’s get moving with part two please.

Hopefully something Catwoman-related, maybe a story with her and Sophia.”

Alongside Catwoman, other fans are hoping there might be a series dedicated to the Joker or maybe even Hugo Strange. Let’s face it, the options are endless.

Over on Twitter, one user said, “Yes please! The Penguin was fantastic, and I'd love for them to really expand and explore Gotham.”

It may be a few years until we see The Batman 2 and season two of The Penguin but if the original entries are anything to go by, we are in for a treat.
