DC Studios CEO James Gunn has been quite vocal lately and one of his latest comments has left fans feeling baffled.
Released back in 2022 and with no sign of a sequel anytime soon, The Batman by Matt Reeves starred Robert Pattinson taking on the role of the caped crusader for the first time.
Praised for his performance, fans soon speculated as to whether Pattinson would become DC Universe’s new Batman but those rumours were soon shut down.

Instead, the DCU will introduce their brand-new Batman in the upcoming The Brave and the Bold movie as Pattinson’s Batman is not a part of the same universe.
This comment has previously come from none other than Gunn himself who explicitly stated that Pattinson’s Batman will not become part of the DCU.
Now it seems as though the CEO has changed his mind according to a recent comment.
When asked if they had cast DCU’s Batman yet, Gunn replied, ““No... well, we cast Robert Pattinson, so he is still there. But he’s still important”.

“What Matt's doing is still really important, despite all stories to the contrary. We're supposed to see that script shortly and I can't wait,” he continued in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
So what does this mean?
Well, it is anybody’s guess but it is safe to say that fans were left feeling baffled and took to the comments to share their thoughts.
“I don't get it. Isn't Robert in another universe??” One user asked.

Another user thinks making Pattinson DCU’s Batman would be the best decision at this stage.
“They should just have RobPat be a part of the DCU at this point,” they said.
“Reeves won't finish The Batman 2 any time soon, so what is this affecting other than leaving him out of his role and us waiting on a potential new DCU Batman, who will likely have movies at the same time as Reeves?”
It remains to be seen what Gunn meant with this comment and if Pattinson will stay in a separate universe or become the DCU’s Batman. Only time will tell.
