It’s not every day we get a new Batman actor, and while the latest is incredibly unexpected, it has nevertheless impressed fans, leaving them shocked.

If you missed it, recently, State Farm put out a commercial in America, officially backed by DC Comics, with Jason Bateman as The Dark Knight.

We're all desperate and waiting for more Batman.

Of course, it’s not a new instalment in the Batman canon, nor is it finally news of the DCU casting we’ve all been waiting for.

However, it was a smart bit of advertising because it got a lot of fans talking, and many of them were shocked to see just how good Bateman was as Batman.

On Reddit, fans were discussing the star stepping into the shoes of the hero, and many of them thought it was a bizarre, yet brilliant turn of events.

“Bateman vs Batman State Farm commercial was dope!” said the creator of the post, Charming_Celery5490.

Fun-Bag7627 agrees, saying, “It was dope. No idea why it exists, lol.”

Unable to avoid the glaring hole in the DCU line-up, as we all await the eventual casting of Batman by James Gunn, a lot of the fans are desperate for anything new.

“Getting excited over commercials. Us DC folk are starving,” comments MrBatman2531.

Another Redditor chimes in with a message aimed at Gunn and DC Studios, saying, “Take notes, Gunn. This was amazing. The fan response cannot be ignored.”

It might be quite some time until we finally get word on who will play Batman in the DCU, as James Gunn has been busy with Superman and surrounding DC characters.

The hype throughout this Reddit thread shows that fans are hungry for more, especially as it’s still a while until we see Robert Pattinson back in The Batman 2.

Who knew that an insurance commercial would get so many fans excited?
