Last week at The Game Awards we saw announcements and trailers for two new Tomb Raider games.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will be a "reimagining" of the first game, while Tomb Raider: Catalyst is a brand new adventure set furthest along in the series’ timeline.
These new Tomb Raider games will also feature a new “Unified” version of Lara Croft, blending elements of each era of the series to create one streamlined canon.
This new version of Lara will be performed by Alix Wilton Regan, an actor best known for video game roles like Aya in Assassin’s Creed Origins, the female Inquisitor in Dragon Age: Inquisition, and Samantha Traynor in Mass Effect 3.

Wilton Regan has been recast in the role, taking over from former Lara Croft star Camilla Luddington who played Lara between 2013 and 2018 in what is now known as the Survivor Trilogy.
Luddington, also known for her role as Dr. Jo Wilson in Grey’s Anatomy, shared a post on social media following the announcement.
“I thought I’d make a post since I’ve been hearing from so many of you,” she wrote on Instagram.
"“I want to let you know that I have loved this fandom. To join the list of Lara Crofts before me was an incredible honor and she will forever be a part of me. The Survivor Trilogy was a decade of adventure I will never ever forget. I could not be prouder of what we created.
“And as always, a new actress receives this incredible gift to step into the boots. So with that said — [Alix Wilton Regan] if you’re ever in need of a [bow and arrow], I know the exact spot to look for one at Croft Manor.”
Wilton Regan’s first outing as Lara Croft comes in 2026 with Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, and will be followed up by Tomb Raider: Catalyst in 2027.
She’ll be the sixth actor to play Lara Croft in the mainline series, following Shelley Blond, Judith Gibbins, Jonell Elliott, Keeley Hawes, and Camilla Luddington.
However, that’s not counting actors who’ve played Lara in other languages, animated adaptations, and live-action feature films.
When you put all of those together, the actual number of actors who have played the character is a lot higher.
Most recently, she was voiced by Hayley Atwell in Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, an animated series for Netflix which recently came back for a second season.
