The unexpected good news just keeps on coming. Days after Electronic Arts restored Titanfall 2’s servers and issued a fresh update, another is now on the way - and it features a brand-new mode.

The Titanfall games were excellent during their prime. I’m sure you’ve heard the outrage concerning the fact that a third entry in the series was reportedly planned before its eventual cancellation. Titanfall 2, arguably the better of the two instalments, launched back in 2019 on Xbox, PlayStation and PC. It had a great run but has been unplayable for several years due to poor server connections killing the dwindling playerbase. Out of nowhere though, EA has restored the servers as part of a fresh update and now, fans have a new mode to enjoy. We are back in action.

Take a look at Titanfall 2 in action below.

As reported by Dexerto, news account alphaINTEL has shared that a new mystery mode has seemingly appeared titled ‘???’ - I did say it was mysterious. The description reads, “Your rockets will blot out the sun.” Dexerto points out that this is likely a reference to Frank Miller’s 300 where a Spartan warrior warns that his army’s arrows have the potential to “blot out the sun”.

By the looks of it, the mode offers players unlimited rockets. Honestly, it’s just kind of been dropped without explanation, just like the servers were updated without explanation. It’s an incredibly random move, so you can’t blame fans for asking if this is something to do with possible Titanfall 3.

Responding to news of the new mode, one fan asked, “What are they cooking?” Another said, “We so back.” One comment read, “If there is a Titanfall 3 this year, it would be the best year in human history.” We can only hope.
