I’ll be honest; I’m not a PC gamer. You’ll almost always find me on a console of some variety, although that’s with one key exception.
I’m the living embodiment of the ‘Girls have a PC for one thing and it’s The Sims’ meme.
Throughout the years, I’ve migrated from instalment to instalment, putting hundreds of hours into my various saves and fair to say, it’s The Sims 4 era that’s sucked up the vast majority of my time.
The Sims 4 is currently the longest-running franchise era to date, with the base game having launched almost 11 years ago in September 2014.

For comparison, five years separated both The Sims 3 and 4, and The Sims 2 and 3.

It’s for this reason that plenty of us aren’t exactly counting down to the launch of The Sims 5.
Of course, I don’t speak on behalf of everyone but the truth of the matter is that we’ve got plenty of new content to keep us busy.
As it turns out, that’s pretty handy as it doesn’t actually sound like The Sims 5 is even coming.

"What I wouldn't want to have happen is you to have to start from day zero and start from scratch and give up all of the things that you have created, give up all of the content that you've purchased over the years,” she began.
“We put out over 85 content packs over the last 10 years on The Sims 4, and so resetting that is not player friendly and not a good idea for our community."
This does make a lot of sense, for now at least.
No matter how much content is launched for The Sims 4, there will come a day where it begins to show its age but that’s likely some way off.

So if you were on the fence about whether to start a new The Sims 4 save, do it; a successor isn’t arriving anytime soon.
