The Witcher is returning in a big way, with a new original story that has nothing to do with The Witcher IV, though it’d make a great game in its own right.
Author of The Witcher series Andrzej Sapkowski is back with another novel, and fans will be pleased to hear it’s all about Geralt.
Titled Crossroads of Ravens, the story follows Geralt only very early into career as a witcher, and if you thought he was powerful in the games you haven’t seen him in his prime.
Unfortunately his physical prowess and enhanced biology doesn’t do him any favours, as during his first expedition away from Kaer Morhen he almost falls prey to one of the monsters he was trained to slay. He then meets a veteran witcher who’ll change his life forever.

It sounds like a promising tale, and one fans will surely get a kick out of as it explores Geralt’s origins and the events that shaped him into the badass slayer we know him as today.
If CD Projekt Red fancies it as well it’d make a fantastic game, as it’s clear Geralt’s days as a video game protagonist are behind him now that Ciri is taking the lead. A prequel game about a younger Geralt seems like the only way to bring him back into the fold.
That said there are plenty of rumours out there that Geralt will be present in The Witcher IV, though likely not as a playable character. He’ll more than likely be acting as a mentor to Ciri, perhaps a character you regularly report back to for guidance or gear.
The next Witcher novel, Crossroad Of Ravens, will release on 30 September, so you don’t have long to wait before you can read Geralt’s next, and first, adventure.
