Geralt of Rivia has just popped up as a guest star in a new video game trailer – but don’t get too ahead of yourselves, because said trailer isn’t for The Witcher 4.
On the other hand, the trailer isn’t for Netflix’s The Witcher adaptation either, so it could always be worse.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen The White Wolf pop up in a new video game. I suppose the last time we saw him appear in a CD Projekt RED title was Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales, unless him featuring on the artwork for a card in GWENT counts.
He’s had his fair share of guest appearances in other games, too, the most famous of which is probably 2018’s Soulcalibur VI. I mean, c’mon, they literally put him on the box art.

Unfortunately for those of you hoping for him to pop up in a trailer for The Witcher 4, his latest appearance is of the guest star variety… in a game that I genuinely forgot existed.
As revealed in a post from the official Sword of Convallaria Twitter account, Geralt will be making an appearance in the tactical fantasy RPG at some point in the near future.

The team behind the game even dropped a genuinely beautiful, fully animated teaser trailer to commemorate the announcement, which features Geralt following Yennefer through a portal.
Assumedly, he’s on his way to whatever universe Sword of Convallaria is set in, but I like to think he’s on his way to Netflix’s head office to have a stern word with the creative team.
I’m not sure if the trailer is trying to imply that Yennefer will also be featured as a playable character in the game too, but I’d be surprised if that doesn’t end up being the case.
Weird that they chose Yennefer and not Ciri though, considering she’s arguably the second most popular character in The Witcher franchise.
As far as release dates are concerned, there’s nothing concrete yet. However, the trailer states that a "Special Preview Program" will premiere on November 2 at 7:00 AM (UTC-4), so I think we’ll probably hear more then.
It's a bit of a weird choice of guest character for this game, honestly. Then again, CD Projekt RED clearly aren’t shy about letting Geralt appear in new and wacky universes, so perhaps more collaborations of this nature could be coming down the line.
Oooh, maybe they’ll add Roach as a horse girl to Umamusume: Pretty Derby!
