The Witcher 4 fans have been treated to a subtle tease of the game's open-world ahead of a big reveal later today.
In 2022, it was announced that the next entry in CD Projekt RED’s beloved The Witcher series was in development along with a remake for the series' original game.
However, it wasn't until late last year at The Game Awards when we saw the debut trailer for The Witcher 4. Sure, this trailer featured no gameplay, but not only did it help to set the tone of the game, but it also confirmed that Ciri is its main protagonist.

“At the beginning of a new saga, players take on the role of Ciri, a professional monster slayer, and embark on a journey through a brutal dark-fantasy world,” reads the description of The Witcher 4.
Yesterday, CD Projekt RED announced that it would be joining in this year's State of Unreal, showcasing features of Unreal Engine 5, the software that is bringing The Witcher 4 to life.
It’s not clear whether or not whether we’ll see any gameplay during the showcase today, but it’s not outside the realm of possibility that we might at least get a snippet.
In the tweet announcing the studio's involvement, there is an image that looks to be the Continent, the location of The Witcher series, used as a slightly faded-out background.
From what we can tell, this could very well be the first in-game screenshot image of The Witcher 4’s open-world. If so, could we see more during the showcase later today? Only time will tell.

The showcase will air at 15:30 CEST/14:30 BST via the official Unreal Engine YouTube and Twitch channels.
At the time of writing, The Witcher 4 has no release date, but it might be safe to assume it could be a couple of years away, at least. We’ll, of course, update you once that release date drops.
