The Witcher 4 is going to be a generational experience when CD Projekt Red is ready to release it, but that’s not to say it won’t be challenged…
Despite being another entry in the studio’s critically-acclaimed franchise The Witcher IV isn’t likely to get an easy ride and there are already “fans” picking it apart for its choice in protagonist.
Hopefully, its launch isn’t comparable to Cyberpunk 2077 but in this highly-critical world, there’s bound to be something that rubs gamers the wrong way.
That’s why it’s nice to see rivals emerge from time to time and often from the most unlikely of places.

Aetheria is an open-world adventure game built and playable entirely within everyone’s favourite battle-royale, Fortnite.

It’s not backed by hundreds of developers but one passionate Fortnite player who used Unreal Editor for Fortnite- also known as UEFN- to create a game world full of cool locations to explore and endless monsters to fight.
The whole project has reportedly taken three years to finish, and while the style is very different the quality of its build could leave it mistaken for the likes of a Witcher game, or maybe Crimson Desert.
Your character, clad in a cloak and wielding a sword, can do battle with a varied pool of enemy types, from colossal stone warriors to oversized scorpions. It’s very reminiscent of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and by extension, its sequel The Witcher IV.
If that piques your interest, check out some of the gameplay below shared by the map’s creator CooliSushi.
There’s no story at the moment but there are plenty of quests for players to undertake if they feel so inclined, or you can just roam the lands and take in the sights while cutting into your fair share of creatures.
It’s a small taste of what Unreal Editor for Fortnite can do and there are plenty of other fan-made projects out there that are equally as impressive.
Some players have even built Star Wars Battlefront 3 in the game, and you can play it online with friends and enemies alike.
