After a successful PC launch, today, open-world hit Bellwright arrives on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S - and it’s the perfect antidote to The Elder Scrolls VI’s continued absence.
Developed by Donkey Crew, Bellwright first landed on PC back in 2024.
It sees you step into the shoes of an individual who was framed for the murder of a prince in a medieval-inspired realm.
Sentenced to death, the game’s protagonist managed to escape and has been “living in the shadows ever since”.

“After barely dodging an attempt on your life, you find the assassin's contract that raises many questions - was it just misfortune that you were framed? Or is there more to it?” the synopsis teases.
“Determined to find the answers, you journey back to the very place you escaped.
“Slowly but surely, you will lead a rebellion against your homeland's oppressive Sovereign to victory, uncovering the truth of your family's secret along the way. The bells shall ring for freedom once again!”

Within Bellwright, players will establish their own settlement while also venturing out to liberate towns and villages, recruit supporters, and prepare to take a stand against the Crown.
That means that gathering, hunting, building, and fighting all form a major part of the gameplay.
The Royal Army is far from the only enemy faction you’ll encounter - and resources are scarce, which means they’re often fought over.
Your small camp can, eventually, transform into a prosperous and flourishing rebellion as long as you manage your resources well.
Acquiring new supporters strengthens your understanding of the game’s world with new followers providing valuable intel.
You can make use of a variety of weapons in combat, including medieval mainstays like swords, axes, mauls, polearms, and bows, so you should be able to find a loadout that suits your preferences.
Bellwright has welcomed a number of updates on PC since it launched in early access.
That includes the Halmare Isles map expansion, which added over 10 square kilometres of explorable land with loads of story-based quests.
All such updates are featured day one in the new PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions which launch today, 9 June.
The console ports have been optimised for big screen play with gamepad support.
“Offering new controls, this is the most accessible Bellwright has ever been, ensuring that console players can immediately get fully immersed in the world of Karvenia,” noted a press release.
The game’s creative director and project lead, Florian Hoffreither, remarked, “We’ve always wanted to bring Bellwright to the largest audience possible, and now PlayStation and Xbox players will be able to play the full game with over two years of major content updates.”
The game will set you back £24.99 / $29.99, which isn’t all that bad in this day and age.
Developers will likely continue to add to the title, although according to How Long To Beat, it already features over 160 hours worth of content.
That should definitely keep you busy amid this long and arduous wait for The Elder Scrolls VI.
