Once hailed as a worthy Grand Theft Auto VI rival, Samson has since fallen from grace.
The gritty open-world action title from Just Cause creator Christofer Sundberg recently landed on PC; it wasn’t a successful launch.
Samson, despite its intriguing premise, failed to resonate with critics and players, landing a Metascore score of just 50 and a User Score of 5.4.
You may then be wondering why anyone would be interested in Samson’s newly announced shift to consoles.

By all accounts, many of Samson’s issues stem from bugs and glitches and while those shouldn’t be present at launch, they can be fixed.
“Samson is the game I really wanted to enjoy, but all of the bugs and awkward controls led to too many frustrating moments. When the combat works, it can be fun, but it’s rare for this to happen,” wrote SteamDeckHQ in its review.

“I can see through to the vision of what the game could be and how much fun it is when it's all running smoothly. But at launch, that's simply not the case, and $25 for anything is still a rip-off if you're just buying something that's broken to begin with,” added WCCFTech.
Samson follows the story of the titular character as he returns to the city of Tyndalston, “a city that shaped him hard”.
“He owes dangerous people more than he can pay, and they’re using his sister to force his hand. The clock is ticking. The only way out is through anyone who stands in his way,” the synopsis teases.
Setting itself apart from GTA VI, Samson doesn’t feature any gunplay with combat instead revolving around brawler and vehicular action.
Devs have been pretty busy since the game’s launch earlier this month, vowing to address the bugs and glitches present in the game.
As spotted by IGN, the team at Liquid Swords have also announced that Samson will be launching on “consoles” later this year.
Strangely though, they didn’t confirm which consoles but it’s perhaps a given that this includes PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S at the very least.
IGN reached out to Liquid Swords to inquire as to whether the Nintendo Switch 2 may be included as well.
“A game representative could not confirm which consoles this does or does not include as of now,” they wrote.
For those of you who are already playing Samson on PC, patches are due to roll out on a weekly basis as we head into May.
Updates three to six are all coming, and they will be “focused on combat refinements, new car variants, performance optimisation, and community-driven fixes”.
In mid May, Samson will receive its first content expansion centred around combat which aims to bring “new depth to the game's grounded, physical fighting system”.
In June, the game’s vehicular elements will then receive new content although details are a bit thin on the ground.

While I’m not saying Samson could have the same comeback as Cyberpunk 2077, it certainly looks as if Liquid Swords is keen to put the effort in to fix the game.
Hopefully this will make Samson’s future arrival on consoles all the more exciting.
