A GTA VI map has been updated, with gamers hyped and preparing to say goodbye to their free time.
We’re edging closer to the arrival of GTA VI, with its highly anticipated launch later this year. Following this recent update, anticipation has been cranked up a notch after a fan released a revised version of the game's huge open-world map taken from the official mapping project.
In 2022, the GTA VI community embarked on creating a map that aimed to be an accurate representation of Rockstar Games’ final version. The map was created using details from officially released trailers, as well as data from the countless leaks over the last few years or so.
Now, an updated version of that map has been shared on Reddit, and understandably, it's sent Grand Theft Auto fans into a frenzy of excitement.
“GTA VI Community Mapping Project September 2022 vs April 2026,” revealed Redditor EliteFireBox.
The original user-created map was huge, indicating that GTA VI will most likely be the largest open-world in the series' history. However, it was lacking a lot of detail and looked rather empty, unlike the updated version shared in April 2026.

The recently updated user-created GTA VI map shows where some of its cities are (including the confirmed Vice City), as well as motorways, towns, countryside, mountains and more. Granted, there’s a lot more content to fill out the map, but it potentially gives us the best indication as to what the official map may look like.
“Having the bay to the left with the town surrounding it is gonna hit so hard,” declared Droxcy.
“Can't wait for this game, please lord let it be good,” exclaimed Frandaero.
“Truly amazing work,” praised ROMVLVSCAESARXXI.
“Even though people are claiming it will be big, I kinda expected it to be twice as big,” replied a concerned YellowEasterEgg. “Taking a plane will still be slower than just driving to the next town with a car, which I find very disappointing. I don't want planes only to be useful to take out players, I want to use them for what they are intended for.”
“As of right now, GTA VI has about 2x the playable land of GTA V, and with new information, it’s possible that GTA VI could have close to 2.5x playable land compared to GTA V,” replied the original author of the thread.
“While that may seem upsetting to some, the amount of detail and variety put into the map, I think, will make the map feel larger than it actually is. Similar to how GTA IV feels.”

Assuming it suffers no further delay, GTA VI will be released on 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The PC port hasn't been announced yet, but we’re sure that time will come at some point.
