CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher is prepping for a major comeback with The Witcher 4 having already been unveiled.

Instead of Geralt leading this entry, the reins will be handed over to Ciri with The Witcher 4 reportedly marking the beginning of a new trilogy.

CD Projekt RED is keeping much about the game under wraps, including its release date; in fact, we’ve not really seen much at all outside of a tech demo which won’t accurately reflect the quality of the final release.

Amid this wait though, another The Witcher game has been unveiled.

The Witcher: Path of Destiny - Ronin Will Launch On 1 May

The Witcher: Path of Destiny - Ronin is a new tabletop adventure from Go On Board that blends The Witcher world you know and love with Japanese samurai and ronin influences.

Originally an add-on to The Witcher: Path of Destiny, The Witcher: Path of Destiny - Ronin is now available as a redesigned standalone adventure.

There are seven characters to play as, with the available options being Geralt, Ciri, Triss, Yennefer, Jaskier, Vesemir, and Yuki Onna.

Essentially, this is a competitive tableau-building card game. In the original version, you’d follow a story, drafting and playing action cards in an attempt to navigate the challenges thrown your way.

Uniquely within the The Witcher: Path of Destiny - Ronin variation, there are partnership tracks, forcing you to make allegiances and manage rivalries with your fellow players.

Playable solo or with up to four friends, The Witcher: Path of Destiny - Ronin is an experience that can last anything from 45 to 90 minutes for a typical round.

The art style is truly gorgeous.

Each playable character will get its own minifigure, plus the game’s boards and cards are adorned with eastern-inspired illustrations.

“Explore a different take on the world of The Witcher, and discover the rich tradition of Japanese folklore,” the synopsis begins.

“The Witcher: Path of Destiny - Ronin takes you to this alternative world. It is an independent, stand-alone game based on the Path of Destiny.

“You will be able to take on the role of seven characters – Geralt, Yennefer, Ciri, Yaskra, Vesemir, and Triss in a brand-new instalment.

“Geralt, Vesemir, and Ciri will be equipped with katanas, Jaskier will move crowds of geisha with the help of a biwa, and Triss and Yennefer will charm many samurai on their way.”

The Witcher: Path of Destiny - Ronin is due to launch on 1 May. Pre-orders are expected to open soon, priced at $99.
