A new, slick horror RPG is on the way, and it looks to be a treat for fans of The Witcher and Resident Evil.
When it comes to crafting immersive RPG worlds, it doesn't get much better than what’s offered by CD Projekt RED, the creators of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077.
While two different RPG worlds, both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, have immersive stories, engaging worlds, quests and interesting characters that will stay with you long after the stories have finished. As for Resident Evil, well, what can we say, other than this series is the undisputed king of the survival horror genre.
The RPG in question is called Hunter: The Reckoning – Deathwish, developed by Teyon and published by Nacon. If the developer feels familiar, there’s probably a good reason why.
Teyon had unfortunately been known for the woeful 2014, Rambo: The Video Game, a title that has a measly 34 and 1.7 Metacritic scores from critics and users, respectively.

However, Teyon would gradually build its quality of games starting with 2019’s Terminator: Resistance, and 2023’s RoboCop: Rogue City. Both weren't perfect games, but they were fun and showed that the developer was on the right path.
As for Hunter: The Reckoning – Deathwish, it’s something quite different for Teyon, being a gothic horror RPG about vampires and werewolves.
In this game, you’ll be a hunter and slayer of these aforementioned mystical creatures. Players will have character customisation, a levelling up system and will have a choice of how they approach each mission.
“Years have passed since that terrible childhood event that still lingers in the dark corners of your memory,” reads the synopsis of the game.
“New York seemed like the perfect place to start anew, leaving the shadows of your past behind. Everything is shattered when your childhood friend reappears, forcing you to face a brutal reality: the shadows hide very real, truly monstrous creatures.”

At the time of writing, Hunter: The Reckoning – Deathwish does not have a concrete release date, other than a tentative 2027 release window. That’s assuming it doesn't get delayed.
We do know that it will be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Hopefully, its full release date will drop soon.
