New Historical Vampire RPG Looks Like The Witcher Meets Skyrim

I don’t think this game will suck

If you’re a fan of games with a historic setting, with a dose of The Witcher, Skyrim, oh, and vampires, then look further than this upcoming RPG gem.

There are tons of fantastic RPGs that have cost us countless hours of immersion over the years, from Baldur’s Gate 3, Jade Empire, Fallout 3 and much more. Outsiders may consider those wasted hours, but not for us, gamers. Nothing beats being lost in a fantastical world created by your favourite developers.

At least in the last decade or so, arguably two of the most popular RPGs are Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. However, if you like the idea of an RPG that blends the best of those two games, then look no further than The Blood of Dawnwalker, developed by Rebel Wolves. It's worth mentioning that a big reason why this game has major vibes of the fantasy RPG from CDPR is that it has the same director who worked on The Witcher 3, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz.

What is The Blood of Dawnwalker?

“The Blood of Dawnwalker is an open-world dark fantasy action RPG set in 14th-century Europe. You play as Coen, human by day and vampire by night, fighting to save your family in a story shaped by your actions and the secrets you uncover,” reads the synopsis of the game, published by Bandai Namco.

The trailers of The Blood of Dawnwalker give major vibes of The Witcher, not only with how it looks and plays, but also its fantastic soundtrack. I also can’t help but think of the Skyrim expansion, Dawnguard, a vampiric-themed story that centred around the villain, Lord Harkon.

What Is the Community Saying About The Blood of Dawnwalker?

“I really hope the game is as good as it looks in the trailers,” exclaimed lokki9203, in the comments section of the story trailer on YouTube.

“I hope this game is a stepping stone for a massive franchise,” said Underlordd.

“This game is giving me the feeling of when I was waiting for The Witcher 3. I only hope to god that it is optimised,” commented mrmesolonely9602.

Obviously, you can never truly tell how good a game will be, based purely on its trailers, but I feel like The Blood of Dawnwalker at least has the potential to be one of this year's most promising RPGs, alongside the likes of Crimson Desert. That’s assuming it releases this year.

The Blood of Dawnwalker does not have a release date at the time of writing, but hopefully, it will arrive by the end of this year or early 2027. We do know that it will be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
