At long last, The Witcher 3 has finally received its new-gen update. It’s been a long time coming, but for those on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, the game now looks and runs better than ever.

Or it’s supposed to, at least. PC players have been reporting significant issues with the game following the update - as IGN reports, some have even slated it as “unplayable” in its current state, despite its incredibly high praise on other platforms.

Take a look at the trailer for The Witcher 3’s new-gen update below.

“Since the update, even if I put the game on low settings I can't go above 45fps in Novigrad and it seems like no matter what settings I adjust everything looks the same and somehow much worse than it looked before the update,” Reddit user Critical_Aide841 wrote. “I feel like it's unplayable at the moment, I've updated my drivers and everything else that one would normally expect to do and it didn't seem to fix the issue.”

Over on Twitter, the official Witcher account has now responded to the situation: “We are aware of the issues PC players have been reporting since last night's release of the update,” they wrote. “We are actively investigating all of the reports and will be providing an update on particular issues as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience!”

At the time of writing, there’s no perfect temporary fix for the issues, which has led some fans to uninstall the update until a patch is released. If you want to do this yourself, as GameSpot writes, all you’ll need to do is head to Properties on Steam, go to Beta, and then select the Classic beta branch. Poof, it’s like it was never there.

Hopefully, it won’t be too long until CD Projekt RED is able to put out a proper fix for the update, but for now, PC users might want to hold off from the update.
