The Witcher 3 meets Subnautica in dark new fantasy RPG

If you like The Witcher 3 you'll love this new fantasy RPG

If you've ever played The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt you'll know one of the most annoying enemies in the game are the Siren.

These slippery customers aren't exactly a challenge, more of a pain in the ass. They tend to attack as you sail around Skellige, typically clawing at your boat and ruining what would otherwise be a jolly voyage. Well, if you've ever wondered what it would be like to play as the Siren from The Witcher 3, this game might just be for you.

Take a look at Sirens in action below!

Sirens looks unlike anything we've ever seen before, and frankly I'm super impressed. There are elements of The Witcher in its dark fantasy world, but also hints of Subnautica's underwater exploration and even dashes of Ecco The Dolphin.

As per the game's Steam description, this adventure invites you to "Become a deadly Siren and hunt down the most dangerous sea creatures that have ever swum in the depths of the oceans! Experience a fascinating journey through the world as seen from the perspective of Sirens at various stages of their evolution."

A game that is set almost entirely underwater might have been a hard sell back when water levels in video games were almost universally rubbish, but Sirens looks utterly gorgeous. Watching the mythical creatures cut through the murky water and do battle with actual dinosaurs has sold me on a game I had no idea I knew I needed. But now that I've heard the call of the sirens, I'm not sure I can resist.

There's no release window for Sirens at the time of writing, which suggests it's early days for the game. We're hoping it'll land in 2024, but 2025 might well be a safer bet. We'll be sure to keep an eye on this one and let you know once we learn more.
