How many times have you played The Witcher 3? I bet it’s a lot, right? It never stops being brilliant and it seems endlessly replayable because the bar of quality is so high.

However, you might be thinking that it would be great if you had some new features, or some quality-of-life changes to make for a smoother playthrough.

Well, I’ve got a mod to point you to. It’s called Blood and Steel and is available through Nexus Mods, as per usual.

Essentially, it overhauls much of The Witcher 3 with the aim of bringing the game up to modern standards both visually, but also in regards to controlling Geralt.

What you’ll find when you boot this mod up is a host of changes. Headlining these are the more realistic animations, which will add dynamism to Geralt when attacking, especially against groups of enemies.

There’s also a whole new dodging style allowing for a better range of movement when avoiding attacks.

As well as the more varied abilities in attacking you’ll have several new signs to cast giving you more options than ever when facing off against threats.

Essentially, everything in Blood and Steel is to refine the experience. After all, why mess with perfection?

The creator has done their best to keep this lightweight and simply improve on systems that were implemented… almost a decade ago (I’ve crumbled to dust).

There are more updates planned including improvements to the targeting system and adding i-frames to the dodge, which will make the combat feel a bit more like Dark Souls.

It’s super simple to install and all instructions can be found on the mod page. It seems the community is already enjoying the changes made and if you couple this with other mods to give more quests, it’ll feel like a brand-new game.
