43-year-old actor Lindsey Pearlman has been found dead after being reported missing in Los Angeles several days ago.

Pearlman, known for roles in General Hospital and the TV adaptation of The Purge, was discovered earlier this week inside a car at the foot of Runyon Canyon Park in Hollywood, a popular hiking spot.

The L.A. County Coroner's Office soon identified the body to be Lindsey Erin Pearlman, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed on their website (via The Hollywood Reporter), adding that "the cause of death will be determined by the coroner."

The actor was last seen on February 13, and was swiftly reported missing by family and friends who were concerned for her safety.

Lindsey's sister, Savannah Pearlman, shared a message on Twitter encouraging anyone that may be struggling to reach out and ask for help. "Please know that you are never truly alone," she tweeted, alongside a number for the National Suicide Hotline.

Pearlman grew up in Chicago, where she studied comedy at The Second City Conservatory before getting involved with local theatre. After moving to LA, she landed a recurring role on NBC's Chicago Justice in 2017. She's also appeared in episodes of Empire, Sneaky Pete, and American Housewife.

The family are currently encouraging donations to Santé D'Or (an LA-based animal rescue organization) in honour of Pearlman, who was a keen animal rights advocate.
