The Last Of Us episode 1 is free to watch now

The first episode of The Last of Us is now free to watch on the Sky TV YouTube channel.

If you’ve not been watching The Last of Us, you’ve been missing out. So far, it's been a stunning adaptation of the game, and in a world full of terrible video game adaptations, it’s fantastic to see one done right.

The show is available to watch on Now TV and Sky Atlantic in the UK, and HBO Max in America. Of course, not everyone can afford these services, but the good news is that the first episode is now totally free to watch.

As VGC reports, the heartbreaking first episode is available to watch on the official Sky TV YouTube channel, so there’s absolutely no reason not to get stuck in. Fans hailed the premiere as “perfect” when it first aired, and heavily praised the performance of Nico Parker as Joel’s daughter, Sarah. It also contains an incredible scene which perfectly mirrors the game - it’s so satisfying to see a show be so faithful to its source material. So what are you waiting for? You can find it on Sky TV's YouTube channel.

Slightly controversially, the show decided to remove Cordyceps spores and replace them with tendrils, which has made the infected creepier than ever before (one particular scene in episode two is a very hard watch). One new concept which has been introduced into the show also sounds like it could be included in a future TLoU game, which is as exciting as it is terrifying.

Oh, and just in case you needed a reminder - Cordyceps is very, very real. The fungus thankfully only affects insects in real life, but has pretty much the exact same effect on them as it does humans in the games and show. So, that’s a bit horrifying.

At the time of writing, it’s not known if any further episodes of The Last of Us will be added to YouTube. For those who’ve been watching weekly on those aforementioned streaming services, episode three will be airing on Sunday (27 January) in the US, and Monday (28 January) in the UK.
