I think it’s safe to say that everyone is hyped for more of The Last of Us right now, and there’s no prizes for guessing why.

Although The Last of Us Part II released almost three years ago now, HBO’s TV adaptation of the first game brought even more fans into the series who are now desperate to see what’s next for Ellie. While developer Naughty Dog remains tight-lipped on whether or not the third game is actually in development or not, it’s bound to happen eventually, right? Hopefully, it could be very soon, as one Naughty Dog developer has teased the studio’s next exciting release.

Take a look at this comparison of Ellie in the game and TV show below.

As PCGamesN reports, Kurt Margenau, who worked as the co-director on The Last of Us Part II, as well as the director of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and co-lead designer of Uncharted 4, recently responded to a Twitter thread asking users what their favourite Naughty Dog game is. With a winking emoji, he wrote: “The next one.”

Unfortunately, this gives away absolutely no clues as to what this next title actually is. In fact, the whole studio remains very secretive about it. Last month, co-president of Naughty Dog and director of The Last of Us games, Neil Druckmann, also discussed the upcoming game, and was very careful not to give too much away.

“I am very lucky that I don’t have to think like that, I joined a studio that was already so successful that we could be primadonna and just do whatever we want,” Druckmann said at the time. “I know not everyone has the privilege but it’s not something I take lightly though at the end of every project we purposefully explore several different projects. Some of them might be a sequel and a bunch of new ideas.”

He continued: “I know the fans really want The Last of Us Part III. I hear about it all the time and all I can say is that we’re already into our next project so the decision has already been made, I can’t say what it is but that’s the process we went through. There was a lot of consideration about different things and we picked the thing we are most excited for.”

Mysterious. Let's hope we find out what the next title is sooner rather than later.
