The Elder Scrolls gamers have been left confused after Bethesda announces work on an entirely different game with no mention of The Elder Scrolls VI.
Many Elder Scrolls fans believe the wait for The Elder Scrolls VI is just ridiculous by this point, even if it’s a AAA, open-world release.
It was first teased all the way back in 2018 and we haven’t seen a pixel of it since, not even an in-game screenshot.
Yesterday, it was Fallout Day, with Bethesda fans tuning in with the hope of a new remaster for either Fallout 3 or Fallout: New Vegas, but they came away disappointed with only updates for Fallout 4 and Fallout 76.

Interestingly though, during Todd Howard’s usual appearance, he teased the future of the Fallout series, hinting that the team were already working on the next Fallout game, likely Fallout 5.
This has understandably caught Elder Scrolls fans off-guard as I think we were all under the impression that The Elder Scrolls VI is where the bulk of Bethesda’s development power is currently focused, yet Todd’s tease almost suggests it’s on the back-burner while Bethesda develops Fallout 5 instead.
“No shot we’re getting a FALLOUT GAME before f***ing Elder Scrolls VI… surely,” said one fan in reaction to the tease.

Others suggested Bethesda is simply up to its usual tricks of announcing projects before they’re anywhere near completion, and that we shouldn’t expect Fallout 5 until the late 2030s at least.
Could Fallout 5 be coming before The Elder Scrolls VI?
That said, given the popularity of the Fallout TV series in recent years, it wouldn’t be that surprising to see Bethesda update its release schedule.
The Fallout TV series was a smash-hit success and it got many players new and old playing Fallout games again, with another boom in player count expected when the second season drops later this year.

With the way the first season ended too, it sparked a lot of interest in a remaster for Fallout: New Vegas which is something many fans were getting their hopes up for during yesterday’s broadcast.
Perhaps Xbox has been cracking the whip at Bethesda ever since, encouraging the studio to push The Elder Scrolls VI to the side to chase the more relevant IP?
Probably not, The Elder Scrolls VI is still a highly anticipated title and fans aren’t going to forget about it anytime soon, so in all likelihood, it’s still being released first.
