Fallout 5 Setting is Causing Chaos Amongst Gamers

Which state will it be?

Fallout 5 may be in development at Bethesda but with a lack of updates over recent years, fans are starting to lose hope.

However, as a way to keep that hype alive, one main question still continues to be asked: where will Fallout 5 be set?

Consisting of nine mainline entries as well as multiple spin-offs and expansions, the Fallout franchise is one of the most successful in gaming so it is no wonder that fans are eager for more.

However, with Bethesda hard at work on The Elder Scrolls VI alongside Fallout 5, it may be a while until we see either.

That being said, fans are hoping that the wait will be worth it but that has a lot to do with where the next main entry will take place.

As we already know, the Fallout franchise takes place in various parts of a post-nuclear America with previous entries based in Southern and Northern California, Washington D.C., Nevada and beyond.

According to a comment by Bethesda’s Todd Howard earlier this year, Fallout will always feature an American setting and that is unlikely to change with the arrival of Fallout 5.

“My view is part of the Fallout schtick is on the Americana naivete and part of that. And so, for us right now, it’s okay to acknowledge some of those other areas but our plans are to predominantly keep it in the US,” he said on the Kinda Funny Games podcast.

So where exactly will Fallout 5 be set?

The question was recently asked over on r/Fallout with one user asking, “Where would you like a Fallout game to take place?” alongside a map of the United States.

“I’ve always wanted to know what’s going on in the Midwest,” user RileyTurbid commented, gaining the most upvotes.

However, user panderson1988 was thinking a bit further north.

“I am pretty sure in the lore NYC got hit pretty hard by the bombs, but that would be a great choice,” they started.

“I would like to see Michigan. Especially Detroit for the automobile industry, and since the lore has the US annexing nearby Canada, you can explore that bit with the old border there and Canadian ghouls.”

With answers ranging from Seattle to New Orleans, San Francisco to Hawaii, the options really are endless but for the time being, we await to learn where Fallout 5 takes us when it is eventually released.
