Henry Cavill officially returns as Superman in new teaser

The man of steel is back

Everyone's favourite PC gamer Henry Cavill has an announcement to make: he's Superman once again. Considering his casting was maybe the only smart call Zack Snyder made (come at me) this is very, very good news.

As you're probably already aware at this point (because it's been leaked everywhere), Cavill makes a "surprise" appearance as the Man of Steel at the end of Black Adam. It's the first time he's played the character since Justice League, and now Cavill himself has promised this is only the beginning.

Cavill took to Instagram, publicly confirming his return as Superman in all DC projects moving forward. While a showdown with Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam is inevitable, there's plenty more to come.

"I wanted to wait until the weekend was over before posting this because I wanted to give you all a chance to watch Black Adam," Cavill wrote. "Now that plenty of you have I wanted to make it official: I am back as Superman. What you saw in Black Adam is just a very small taste of things to come."

While it's unclear exactly where we'll see Cavill next, it seems all but guaranteed that we'll be getting a new solo Superman movie with the actor in a starring role. Just last week reports emerged that a sequel to Man Of Steel is finally in development. Given Cavill's big announcement, that's looking more and more likely.

But what could we expect from a sequel to Snyder's controversial take on the character? A standalone Superman movie with no gritty nonsense and zero need to set up the next several years of spinoffs and sequels? That would be my dream. Just give us a Superman movie that lets Superman be Superman, please. Oh, and if we can get Amy Adams back as Lois Lane while we're at it, that would be pretty great too.
