Steam drops 8 new free games you can download and play this weekend

These exciting titles are ready to play right now

With us being in the middle of some major releases, we have hit that common downtime of not knowing what to play next. Luckily Steam has us covered with 8 free games we can download for free to play this weekend.

Steam is no stranger to offering its user base the chance to try before they buy courtesy of hundreds of demos available at all times. However, these new demos are not ones to miss out on.

Final Fantasy XIV is also free to check out on Steam right now!

First up is Tiny Glade, “a small relaxing game about doodling castles”. Released as a demo earlier this week, the wholesome building game can see you build the castle of your dreams.

“There's no management, combat, or wrong answers - just kick back and turn forgotten meadows into lovable dioramas,” reads the official synopsis.

For those looking for a fast-paced RPG, check out DARKWELL: Assassin's Choice which combines a one-hit kill style with a top-down combat experience. Choose the route you want to take as you hook, deflect and dash to defeat your enemies.

One I would personally recommend as I reviewed the demo myself is Camper Van: Make It Home. This is an organisation puzzle game which sees you decorate your very own camper van. Fans of Unpacking will love this one.

Fans of chaos will love Kill Knight, an “ultra-responsive arcade-inspired isometric action shooter” which will follow your character after they are condemned to eternal suffering. Now caught in an eldritch arena, they must master combat and battle to the death in order to survive.

SCHiM is set to release in just a few weeks so this is the perfect time to try it out. The casual 3D platformer will task players from jumping from shadow to shadow in a relaxing environment. Using light and shadow to show the way, this unique experience is not one to miss.

Other demos not to miss out on are the Japanese folklore inspired 2.5D platformer Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus, dystopian survival game City 20 and the cozy open-world life sim Critter Cove.

All of these and more are available for free right now courtesy of Steam.
