It’s quite unbelievable to think that the launch of Starfield is nearly upon us, alas, following multiple delays, the time is most certainly nigh.

According to Bethesda during a recent 45-minute ‘Starfield Direct’ presentation, the upcoming sci-fi RPG has been 20 years in the making and now thanks to modern-day technology, that vision has finally come to fruition now that the game has gone gold.

That being said, fans of Bethesda will be very familiar with some of its launch woes. The worst-case scenarios include Redfall and Fallout 76, both were a broken mess at launch, to say the least. However, from what we heard, Fallout 76 is now in a much better state, unlike perhaps Redfall.

Then we have bugs and glitches that are associated with the likes of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Look, we’re not trying to excuse bugs and glitches, we know it happens, but admittedly there’s something quite charming about some that are encountered in Skyrim, at least to an extent.

Even by Bethesda’s own admission, it is aware that its games have bugs but has promised recently that Starfield will be the developer's least buggy launch. Which is comforting, I suppose. Right?

Well, it seems that Bethesda is already taking early measures to ensure that the promise of Starfield being the studio's least buggy game at launch is fulfilled by releasing updates prior to the game being released. News of the pre-launch updates was shared by a Starfield fan account on Twitter.

“Multiple versions have been pushed to Starfield’s build to ensure it's polished ahead of launch,” tweeted Starfield Beyond. “They’re definitely aiming for Starfield to be Bethesda's most polished launch title yet.”

It’s worth keeping in mind that review codes have started to go out to select media outlets, so for now, at least, it hopefully means that reviewers will have a smooth experience and more so will the customers.

Starfield has a release date of 6 September 2023 for PC and Xbox Series X|S. Unless you’ve pre-ordered the Premium or Constellation Edition. If so, then your release date is 1 September. Starfield will also launch on Xbox Game Pass.
