Starfield fans have 'no doubt' game will be buggy at launch

A Bethesda game, buggy at launch, no way?!

Fans are counting down the days until Bethesda’s next big RPG is upon us with Starfield, despite there being some scepticism about its launch.

It’s no secret that Bethesda games are buggy at launch for better or worse. In fact, fans will expect nothing less. Though there’s certainly a difference between the somewhat lovable bugs in Skyrim, to the botched launch that was Fallout 76. However, we hear that the latter is in a much better state now.

Check out the Starfield gameplay trailer below!

So it stands to reason that fans will expect Starfield to be a tad buggy, despite Bethesda trying to ease concerns that it will be the developer's least buggy game at launch. To be fair, Starfield is looking to be a massive game that not only offers the largest city that Bethesda has ever created but also promises over 1000 planets for players to visit and explore. So it might be unrealistic to expect absolute perfection at launch.

Yet, players have been discussing some of those concerns on Reddit. “Do you think Starfield will be as buggy/glitchy as other Bethesda titles?” asked Redditor AshNero_1998, opening up the discussion on the thread.

“I know it's a big open-world game so it's bound to have some bugs or glitches on release but remember: this is a Bethesda open-world action RPG directed by Todd Howard,” they continued. “So do you think it will be as frequently glitchy as Fallout 4, Skyrim or worse; Fallout 76?”

“Not a doubt in my mind,” replied doofer20. “It's not even that it will be buggy. It's that we all know it's going to be the same bugs as the Fallout series,” added Rosfield-4104. “If a space giant doesn’t send me rag-dolling into orbit, I’ll be disappointed,” said iAmTheRealC2.

“We should expect a certain amount of bugs/glitches. It won't be perfect, that's for sure. I would hope they've learned a little bit from their past and it will be a bit less buggy than a lot of previous titles,” explained rohobian. “But I won't get my hopes up.”

We won’t expect miracles at GAMINGbible either, but as long as we have a stable and enjoyable experience at launch, we’ll be happy. That’s as long as any potential issues are ironed out ASAP.

Starfield will be released for PC and Xbox Series X|S on 6 September 2023. Unless you pre-order the Premium or Constellation Edition, in which case it will be 1 September. Starfield will also launch day one on Xbox Game Pass.
